An interview of Slaq.am with Saribek Sukiasyan, candidate of NA member from Electoral Constituency Nr. 10 (Kenton Community).
Mr. Sukiasyan, you announced that you had nominated your candidacy at your brother’s request. May we conclude that you will be your brother’s delegate at the National Assembly, that’s to say you will promote your activities at your brother’s instructions?
I am rather mature to be able to promote my activities independently. Those, who know me, are well aware that I have never been guided by instructions; such mode of life is alien to me. Unfortunately, not only the estimates of phenomenon, but often ideas and apprehensions of the people are distorted in our public. One should be able to differentiate between instruction and advice. I always need my brother’s advice, but not his instruction. I have submitted that application, as you know they did not register Khachatur. Yes, we are brothers, but each of us is a mature personality.
Why the voters should elect you, and not Garegin Nushikyan, who has nominated his candidacy in the same constituency?
Each citizen is free in his choice. If you assume that I will revile my competitor and praise myself and mention my merits, then I must disappoint you. Generally, it is not my style to humble the person opposite to me, whoever he is. Neither I am supercilious. I think I have a thick crowd of sympathizers, and this is the guaranty of my success in the elections, as thousands of people are already oriented and I think their votes should be enough to win. Thanks to our civilized and well organized election campaign certain quantity of citizens would join and recruit the army of my sympathizers.
What relationship do you have with G. Nushikyan? Do you consider him a serious competitor?
I have mentioned on many occasions that our relations are normal. And I am on the opinion that the competition will be fair, inadmissible methods would not be applied and there will not be violation in the Electoral Constituency No 10 taken separately.
Are you going to exchange the places with your brother Khachatur Sukiasyan after being elected NA member, i.e. He will be leading your family business?
There are certain requirements of the law to follow. It was so during the period when Khachatur Sukiasyan was NA member, it will be the same hereinafter.
The other day rumors were spread out in the media that controversy with your participation occurred the day before. To which extent are these rumors true? Was the head of your guards participating in it?
The rumors circulating in the media are the result of using dirty technologies. They are barefaced lies with a primitively contrived sensation title. The people who were in the mentioned place on the mentioned day can negate these rumors. The café manager refuted it in the same media that had published the information. I don’t have guards and I am not going to comment on the false information.
-With what slogan are you going to elections? – Soon my election booklet will be published and you will read on its cover page you are choosing your future.
What legislative initiatives are you going to submit in the National Assembly?
Naturally they will relate to economic and political spheres. They will tend to improve social-economic situation and decrease the tax burden. Each of us knows the disastrous state of the country’s economy, catastrophic unemployment volumes and emigration rates, ubiquitous corruption. The citizen of Armenia, any person residing in Armenia must live in well-off and prosperous life. All my legislative initiatives should serve this purpose.
