On October 2, a conference on subject “Psychology of Migration» was held in «Ararat” hall of the Marriott Hotel organized by” Social progress» Civil Initiative.
The following people spoke and submitted their research: Candidate of Psychology Arusyak Sevoyan (Adelaide University), Candidate of Psychology Narine Khachatryan (Yerevan State Univercity), Samvel Manukyan (“IPES” Institute for Political and Sociological Consulting), Candidate of Economy Karlen Khachatryan (Yerevan State University) and PhD, professor Tatul Manaseryan (Alternative Research Center), Hrant Mikaelyan (Caucasian Institute), Richard Grigoryan (Regional Studies) and Hakob Hakobyan (chairman of permanent acting commissions of social affairs of the National Assembly.
The conference was aimed at raising the reasons of irrational behavior on the level of satisfaction of public’s needs and generic exaggerated expectations and the link of the individual psychology.
The conference was also attended by the people invited from government, public and private sectors and concerned to solve the demographic problems.
During the conference the results of sociological surveys indicate that 80% of migrants complain of the corruption level in RA, but the main directions of migration flows lead to more corrupted countries. Another reason of migration (according to Richard Giragosian) is acquisition of knowledge and skills.
However, if the government could then use those skills for Armenia, the negative effect of migration can be a positive: According to another survey, the majority of the emigrants, being dissatisfied with the decision, however, are silent and do not represent the truth or unconsciously yield to self-deception. In other words, they are in stage of emotional denial of failure.
In the result of this and many other surveys the participants noted that the irrational factor plays often a big role in the decision making of migration․
By agreeing to all this, I still firmly believe that one of the important reasons of immigration is the injustice in this country, which applies to all levels of state institutions.
It creates an atmosphere of distrust and frustration and makes the people not seeing their future, to seek justice in another country, on another land.
